About me

I'm from Minneapolis. I love this city so much that it has pulled me back every time I've left. I've tried to leave a few times: once to live in northern Minnesota, once to live in Sweden and once to live in New Orleans, but I've always come back home.

I want to teach because I see it as social justice in action.

I have taught 5th grade special ed for one incredibly difficult and rewarding year in New Orleans at the KIPP:Believe Charter school. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but since then I've never wanted to do anything else but teach.

I enjoy discussing and learning about religions, even though I am a nonreligious person.

Depending on my mood, I love 60's rock and roll, 90s alt rock, 50's delta blues and local Minneapolis musicians across all genres. I love the books of A M Homes, Margaret Atwood, Bill Bryson and Steig Larsson. I was raised on Star Wars and Harry Potter, and there is a special place in my heart for Spaghetti Westerns.
